About Us

St. Joseph’s Institute of Management is an emerging premier Management Institute run by the Jesuit Fathers who have expertise in running institutions of higher learning including XLRI and LIBA. This is part of the 173 year old St. Joseph’s College which has contributed to the development of the country through eminent persons like Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

St. Joseph’s College, founded in 1844 by the fathers of the Society of Jesus popularly known as Jesuits, was established much before the foundation of the University of Madras. This portal of learning enjoys great tradition and repute and has earned several feathers to its cap. It is an autonomous college from 1978, completed three cycles of NAAC accreditation with ‘A’ Grade and it is awarded the ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ in 2004 and special heritage status by the University Grants Commission.

The industry interface enhances the understanding of the latest trends and practical aspects of workplace through visiting business organisations, industrial tour, interacting with the business leaders. The practitioners come to the campus to add on to the learning that takes place in the campus.

The teaching pedagogy followed is learning by doing. The students are presented with actual business situations through case studies and simulation. This unique method enables them to have a clear understanding of the concepts, analyse practical situations and apply the same to real situations. Greater emphasis is given to develop skills in data analytics and entrepreneurship.

JIM attracts a good number of well performing companies for placement and ensures that more than 95 per cent of the students get placed for a good package.
